Nebraska deserves a representative who understands how ill-conceived tariffs and a “one size fits all” immigration policy hurts Nebraska’s farmers, ranchers, and ag businesses. Nebraska deserves a representative who will work to fund and strengthen rural healthcare rather than cut taxes for billionaires, and a representative who will fight for policies that make the billionaires pay their fair share so we can balance our budget once and for all—not saddle our children with trillions in debt. (That’s called fiscal conservatism).
Meet Mark
I’m Mark Cohen and I’m running for Congress in Nebraska’s third district as an independent because I served my country, I love what America stands for, and I’m fed up with a two-party system that rewards extremists, politicians that use simplistic labels to pit neighbor against neighbor, corporations and billionaires buying elections, elected officials who work for political parties rather than the people, and a system where truth is measured in clicks rather than facts.
Rural Nebraskans are more independent and more thoughtful than the politicians and media giants often assume. Nebraskans want more than labels and catch phrases. They know not all Democrats are “socialists” and not all Republicans are “fascists.” They’re tired of “wedge issue” noise drowning out their concerns about agriculture and rural healthcare. They want a representative who will find common ground — a representative more interested in real solutions than dividing people to raise money. “We’re smarter than they think.”
The System is broken
Confidence in government is lower than ever.
I believe there are five reasons why. First, the two-party system has failed us and ignores moderates. Second, we allow giant corporations and billionaires to buy elections. Third, media power has become increasingly concentrated, and the rise of for-profit news has shifted priorities away from objective reporting. Fourth, the party that wins by 1% gets 99% of the power because party members won’t question their party leaders. And lastly, it's because of us. Too many of us don’t question what the politicians and media tell us. Often they are not even asking the right questions. Too many of us give blind allegiance to a political party.
